Tri-County Speedway

10-28-23 Last Race of the Season

The season came to a close on October 28 th at Tri County Speedway. It was a strong finish with
105 cars in total showing up to see the curtain come down for the year.
The first race of the night was the Pro 4 Division. Curtis Pardue (#17) led all qualifiers with a lap
of 17.092. The first 3 qualifiers were inverted for the start. This resulted in Rodney Trivette (#6) being
the first to see the green. There was one caution during the race. This was on lap 5 when Robbie
Trivette (#11) slowed to a stop on the backstretch. The race ran without further incident. Pardue
overcome the invert and claimed the win. Dennis Trivette (#57) was second and Rodney Trivette
followed in third place.
Race 2 of the night was the Vintage Division. Bob Haybmen (#8) was fastest in qualifying. He
recorded a fast lap of 16.577. This race was caution free. Cody DeMarmels (#0) controlled the race
from the drop of the green and cruised to victory. He was followed in second place by Kevin Bumgarner
(#47) and Haybmen wrapped up the top 3.
The Outlaw Division was the third event of the night. Tyler Church (#1X) claimed the pole
position with a lap of 15.579. However, the car failed the prerace inspection. Martin Nesbitt (#92) was
given the pole position. The top 3 were inverted. Jake Waltman (#6) was the first to see the green.
Leap Frog put up a $100 bonus for the winner and Coomers Well & Pump also put up a $100 bonus for

Race 4 was the Renegade Division. Klint Townsend (#9) was the top qualifier with a lap of

This race was also caution free. Dalton Ledbetter (#32) was first to cross the finish line. Townsend
followed in second and Steve Smart (#16) was third.
The Front Wheel Drive Division was the 5 th race of the night. James Powell (#27) was top
qualifier. His lap time was 19.115. The top 7 cars were inverted. Brayden Powers was first to see the
green. A caution slowed the field on lap 1. This was because of Dalton Willard (#42) slowing to a stop
on the track. Willard brought out the second caution on lap 5 when he once again stopped on the track.
This time he stopped in turn 3. Powell came home the winner at the end of the event. Jason Garwood
(#46) was second. He was followed in third by Jackie Stone (#17).

night. This was the result of Tasha Kummer (#35) spinning in turn 3. Caution 2 was displayed on lap 44.
This time it was Brody Monahan (#35M) spinning out in turn 4. By far, the biggest incident was on the
last lap. Thomas Beane (#28) was leading when Mike Bumgarner (#97) made contact going down the
backstretch. Both went into the outside wall and Bumgarner collected Mitch Walker (#15) when he
careened back in the racing groove. Riley Gentry (#09) was the beneficiary of the melee as he collected
the win. Jadon Cretacci (#75) was second and Dean Thompson (#5) was credited with 3 rd .

The Limited Late Model Division was the next to last race on the night. A lap of 15.952 was good
enough to give Trey Canipe (#5) the pole. The first 3 were inverted and this handed the top spot to
Landon Huffman (#75). The first caution was on lap 1 when Derek Lane (#28) was putting down a trail of
smoke. Caution #2 was on lap 8 when Kristen Wallace (#12W) spun trying to avoid a slower car. Taylor
Reimer (#12R) slowed the field for a 3 rd time on lap 16 spinning out in turn 3. Caution was again
displayed on lap 18. Wallace and Rich Hudson (#8) got together in turn 2. Graham Hildebran (#2) had
an engine expire which brought out the event’s final caution. Austin Harris (#59) was victorious in his
fight for the win. Huffman was second. Canipe rolled home third. Terri Crider won a $100 for being the
hard charger for this event.
The last event of the season was the Street Stock Division. Marlin Yoder (#08) claimed the pole
with a lap of 16.891. The first 4 cars were inverted. Johnny Reynolds was the first to see the green. The
first yellow was on lap 4. This was the result of Chris Tunnel (#6) and Marvin Miller (#1) having an
incident in turn 2. Caution #2 was waved on lap 17 when Davey Smart (#14) slowed on the track. A 5
car incident brought out the night’s and the season’s last yellow. Miller, JD Smith (#28) and Kyle Boice
(#73) had an incident in turn 2. Kayla Eby (#3) and James Powell (#27) tried to get through a hole that
wasn’t there. Yoder saw the final checkered of the season. He was followed by Johnny Reynolds (#55)
in second. Mike Hatton (#12) was third.
Tonight was the last race for the 2023 Tri County racing season. We hope all the racing fans
enjoyed tonight’s events. We would like to thank everyone who has supported Tri County Speedway
this year. We would also like to thank all the sponsors who donated bicycles for the children for
Christmas. Personally, I think giving is one of the most precious things we can do especially for children.
Whenever you give from the heart, you are always blessed!
The annual Tri County Speedway Banquet will be held at the Hub in Hudson on January 6,
2024. Please check the website or facebook for the time and cost. Be sure to mark your calendar! See
you there!!
